Small and craftsman winery Vilarnauis situated in the vicinity of Barcelona and it specializes in producing exclusive top-quality cava. Their own 20 ha vineyards are located in the heart of “cava area”, and they are protected by the Montserrat mountain range against cold Pyrenees winds. The varieties of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir as well asMacabeo, Parellada and Xarel lo are predominantly grown here. Cava is produced in a traditional way where the secondary vinification takes place in bottles.
Vilarnau cava gains its characteristic flavour thanks to the prolonged vinification. The main mission of the brand is to produce the best cava with minimum negative environmental impact. Therefore, not only wine is grown in an organic way but also a modern building and the whole production process is designed to respect the ambient environment to the maximum. A majority of products is already referred to as organic.
Since 1982, Vilarnau brand belongs to the González Byass group of wineries. Every year, it receives a number of awards, and thanks to the brand, the González Byass Group has become the European Winery of the Year 2018.
Vilarnau Cava Semi-Sec
Variety: 55 % Macabeo, 40 % Parellada, 5 % Xarel
White sparkling semi-dry wine of light yellowish colour with shades of green. Characteristic aroma after fresh fruit and flowers. Rounded flavour with hints of ripe apples, harmonized mild sweetness and acids. Ideal to be served chilled as an aperitif and to complement dishes. If goes well with desserts and chocolate.
Vilarnau Brut Reserva
Variety: 50 % Macabeo, 35 % Parellada, 15 % Xarel – lo
White sparkling dry wine having the colour of light-yellow hay shades. Its flavour is intensive and very pleasant with soft freshness. It can be characterized as a combination of citrus tones and fruit like apples and pears with a touch of herbs. This sparkling wine appears to be complex, and tiny bubbles highlight its lightness, but it still has a balanced character. We recommend serving with seafood, lean fish as well as at all-night social events.
Vilarnau Brut Reserva Rosé
Variety: Pinot Noir and Trepat
Pink sparkling dry wine, attractive colour of red berries with violet reflexions. After the wine is poured into a glass, soft lingering bubbles are released. In its flavour, we can find a wide range of fruity aromas, ripe red fruit, strawberries, raspberries and tropical fruit. Overall, the varieties of Pinot Noir and Trepat jointly form a smooth, cream and refreshing overall impression.
In combination with food, it goes well with softer meat, pizza, light fruit and seafood.
